I always used to scoff when people said that deaths & accidents occur in a cycle of three - but not anymore! This past few weeks I personally experienced three accidents that left me battered and bruised.
Firstly, I twisted an ankle and could certainly have broken a bone as a young cowboy of a Mynah Bus driver took us on a hair raising drive into town and started to drive off when I was alighting and before I had cleared the last step. Most of the drivers are considerate and friendly but not this one! Anyway, I had barely recovered from this when I decided I needed a little exercise and a walk to the local Spar would be a good thing so off I went - walking slowly as you can imagine. Well halfway there I stepped on a piece of pavement that crumbled underneath me - causing me to fall. As I fell I put out my hands to protect me and as a result severely twisted my right wrist and arm. Not to mention the quite nasty scratches and bruises on my hands and one leg. As I sat on the pavement I discovered that I had put my foot into a hole that has just been covered by a layer of concrete and tar. The recent
heavy rains must have caused the disintegration of this so it was obviously of inferior quality.
So now not only do we wrinklies have to keep a watchful eye out for lurking bag-snatchers - we also have to step very lightly to avoid patches on the pavement! Our council is not doing its job!If this happens to me again I will sue them.
Well the third accident was a result of the second as I tripped and fell in my home as I was not quite steady on my feet yet. The result of this fall was that I banged the back of my head so severely that I passed out. I came too not knowing where I was or what had happened. This means I was concussed. For a solid ten days I was giddy and trembly from this. But all is well that ends well because now I’m much better and my recovery was hastened by a lovely surprise.
You will remember that I mentioned the delightful Dilmah tea. Well they sent me 18 boxes of beautifully wrapped tea flavours. Well! Each little box contains 10 tea bags (also beautifully presented). So far I’ve sampled ten of the different flavours and was particularly impressed by the Camomile and Peppermint teas - but I find all of
them quite delicious. I’ve given a number of friends and relatives some to sample. Thank you Dilmah for the lovely surprise. I’m an old experienced wrinkly but I can assure you that I never knew that so many delicious flavours were available. Readers this tea is available from Pick ‘n Pay outlets and cricket fanatics you will have seen the word Dilmah on the sleeves of the Sri Lankan cricket team and now you know what it stands for. Dilmah tea is quite the best tea I ever brewed.
Talking about pats on the back - once again I would like to pat Spar on the back for their Prawns on a stick and this time for the Crumbed Prawns. Both products are superb and offer good value for money. However I have to bring to the attention of Spar Head Office that some of thier branches are not up to scratch. They are selling old eggs and milk and the staff can be quite surly and unfriendly. I urge you to do some undercover work at these outlets. Contact me via email and I will tell what branches I find under-performing.
Some more good news - On Wednesdays my son I have talen to having a walk round the Botanic Gardens. We had a scrumptious toasted sandwich
and crumpets at the restaurant. This is a delightful open air rendezvous where the prices are good and the food very very tasty - and the service by all the smiling, hard-working volunteers makes for a delightful mid week break. I would like to bring to your attention that the ladies and gentlemen that man this venue are all unpaid volunteers who do all this for charity! They need your support and they deserve it!
Another pat on the back - as you all know I quite often make use of taxis and lately I’ve found both Zippy and Mozzie user unfriendly (as they keep you waiting for too long) so I decided to try a smaller guy and discovered a gem. Mr Bheki of Zane’s Travels & Tours! Mr Bheki is prompt and very polite and considerate. He brings me home and waits patiently until I’m safely inside the security gates. He even helps me with my parcels. So if you need a taxi, call him on his cell at:073 934 6690. I would like to remind my readers that my pats on the back are not advertorial.
Till next time
