is their willingness to help us. To give two brief examples, Andrew Verster recently visited with us, and our long time supporter Marissa Jordaan must be mentioned as well. What impressed us the most is their willingness to engage with us as equals, and to be willing to look at collaborating with us. Marissa
Jordaan has been a major driving force behind our success, and we cannot thank her enough for that.
We are currently working on a range of beaded koi, (see picture above) and we hope to develop this into a whole new range of beaded wall lights and sculptures.
I have also included an image of a banner that we recently made for the Union of Jewish Women, as a commission, for an exhibition that is currently underway at the Jewish Club.
We hope to be a regular feature, but would like to sum up our philosophy and aim for the future. We want to bring a diverse group of people together and have fun in the process of making art. We want people to tell Africa and the world about their fantasies and dreams. We want people to also know that ultimately that great unearthed talent abounds, and that our local crafters are designers as well, and that we hope to make some contribution to ensuring that the next Giorgio Armani comes from Umlazi.
See you next issue.
