After their successful opening in 2001, the Rhumbelow continues to dazzle auidences year in year out with such world famous performers as Rory Rootenberg, The Tuck Shop Girls, Pinkie Mtshali, Kobus van Niekerk, Garth Anderson and Godfrey Johnson to name just a few.




came along the Rhumbelow Venue. In 2001 the FAMILY PLAYERS went into partnership with the Rhumbelow Shell hole, Cunningham Rd off Bartle Rd. At the time the hall and stage and dressing room facilities needed some work, so their first show in June 2001 was done as a fundraiser to put in new curtains and to do alterations to provide suitable change rooms and toilet facilities. Next they completed theirnext major renovation, an awning down the side of the building to enlarge the outdoor area, which with Durban’s climate is ideal for braaing. We now have acquired two pianos, one for the stage and one for pre-show music.

All excess money is used to do necessary renovation to ensure that we make this venture sustainable.
Plus Roland stresses that as members of the M.O.T.H.s they are committed to raising funds for their various charities and continuing the good news of the M.O.T.H.s.
The renovations to the theatre are dramatic. I am so happy to declare that the theatre is 100% air conditioned as is the magnificent bar area. It really is a magnificent bar and the drink prices are very reasonable.
