‘ORRIBLE PLANTAR WARTS!
The other day I noticed so many folk hobbling along the road. Some were even stumbling as they failed to place their feet on the ground correctly. It looked as if they were in extreme pain or trying to avoid extreme pain in their feet. Perplexed I pondered what the cause was and then assumed it must be arthritis or something because we have had extremely cold weather in Durban lately. But, as you know assumptions are the mother of all confusion and this was not the exception! I noticed later on that my maid was also hobbling along avoiding walking on the toes of her feet at all costs. So I asked her - Whats wrong Chrissie? And she said her feet were really sore especially around the toes where the digits joined the foot. So I asked her to remove her shoes and thick wooly socks so I could see. What greeted me was a really horrible sight!
Chrisse had plantar warts. They had grown into a mosaic or cluster of warts on her big toe and the fleshy bits between the digits and the foot. She was in extreme pain - almost crying. She had these warts for some time and continued pressure on her
foot had enabled the virus that causes these warts to penetrate deep into the layers of the skin.
Chrissie was so relieved to hear that these warts caused by the human papilloma virus can be got rid of. A tried rememdy is to soak her feet every night in Meths and hot water. It works! It might take upto 3 months but the warts go this way. Also soak meths in cotton wool and place between your feet and under the wart in your shoes for the day. It is long term.
